Leon County School Board J. Michael Conley School at SouthWood
This new state-of-the-art school, located in the SouthWood area of Tallahassee accommodates more than 835 students. The 120,000 SF of new buildings occupies 27 acres with expansion potential to turn this elementary school into a K-8 facility. Six buildings are included on the campus, two of which are designed to also serve as emergency shelters for the community. Baycrest faced early challenges with this project in terms of topography as there is a 25 foot differential in elevation on the site. Also, a highly accelerated schedule necessitated multiple phases in order to complete site work, concrete, and masonry early. Construction began in May of 2007 and was completed in July of 2008.
